
A simple-minded man was trying to catch his shadow. But when he took a step forward, it took a step back. If he ran, it ran.
When he turned around, he saw it chasing him. This funny scene took place in the main square of a village. And all the crowd laughed to see him.
But a wise man passing close, taught them a lesson:
— “If you laugh at this simpleton, laugh also of yourselves, because you are like him. You are always chasing after shadows that flee: honours, wealth, beauty, powers… You never have peace of heart!“
The laughter ceased and the wise man went his way.
